SUSHISAMBA Singapore: Where Skyline Views Meet Bold Flavours

There are lots of sushi restaurants in Singapore that we visit for comfort, and then there are those you go to when you want to feel the city around you. SUSHISAMBA Singapore falls firmly into the latter.

Located at the top of Capital Tower, SUSHISAMBA is known for its sweeping city views and its mix of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian flavours. I went in feeling curious, but also a little unsure.

What I found was something more layered.

First Impressions: High Above, Yet Surprisingly Warm

Stepping into SUSHISAMBA feels like entering a different rhythm of Singapore. The lift ride itself builds anticipation, and once the doors open, you’re greeted by soaring ceilings, lush greenery, and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the city skyline like a moving backdrop.

Despite the scale, the space doesn’t feel cold. There’s a softness to it. Warm wood accents, gentle lighting, and an energy that feels lively without tipping into chaos. It’s polished, yes, but not intimidating. Conversations hum, glasses clink quietly, and the city stretches endlessly below.

It’s the kind of place where you instinctively slow down, even as the city rushes on outside.

The Menu: A Confident Fusion

SUSHISAMBA’s menu is unapologetically bold. Japanese techniques form the backbone, but flavours lean outward; citrusy, smoky, spicy, and occasionally playful.

I started with a selection of sushi and small plates, easing into the experience rather than diving straight in. The Samba Roll, with its mix of tempura shrimp, avocado, and subtle sweetness, was approachable yet well-balanced. The rice was seasoned gently, allowing the toppings to shine rather than overwhelm.

The Yellowtail Taquito stood out. Crisp on the outside, tender within, with a bright hit of citrus that cut through the richness beautifully. It’s the kind of dish that feels carefully considered, not fusion for fusion’s sake.

Sushi with a Twist, Not a Distraction

The sushi here doesn’t try to replicate a traditional omakase counter and that’s intentional. Instead, it leans into contrast. Textures matter. Temperature matters. Sauces are used thoughtfully, not as a crutch.

A few pieces surprised me in quiet ways: a flash of heat here, a whisper of sweetness there. Nothing shouted. Nothing felt gimmicky. Each bite made sense, even if it wasn’t familiar.

This is sushi meant to be enjoyed slowly, with conversation, with a view, with a drink in hand.

Beyond the Plate: Atmosphere as Part of the Experience

What makes SUSHISAMBA memorable isn’t just the food. It’s how everything comes together. The pacing of the meal, the attentiveness of the service, the way daylight fades into evening while you’re still seated.

Service was warm and knowledgeable, striking a good balance between professionalism and ease. Dishes arrived at a comfortable rhythm, giving space to appreciate each one without feeling rushed.

Yes, it’s a place people come to celebrate — birthdays, milestones, first impressions, but it never felt performative. Just quietly confident.

Value and Perspective

SUSHISAMBA Singapore sits firmly in the premium dining category. Prices reflect the location, the scale, and the ambition of the concept. It’s not a place you drop into casually but when you choose it intentionally, the experience holds its own.

You’re paying not just for food, but for time, atmosphere, and a sense of occasion. And sometimes, that’s exactly what a meal should be.

💭 Final Thoughts: Elevated, Yet Grounded

SUSHISAMBA Singapore doesn’t try to be subtle but it doesn’t need to shout either. Beneath the skyline views and dramatic setting is a restaurant that understands balance: between flavours, cultures, and expectations.

It’s a place best enjoyed when you’re not in a hurry. When you’re willing to sit back, look out over the city, and let the meal unfold naturally.

You don’t leave feeling dazzled.
You leave feeling like you’ve just experienced Singapore from a different angle.
